Thousands of people are marching in the European Quarter in Brussels just two days before the start of the climate change conference in Copenhagen. The crowd gathered in Place Luxembourg, in front of the European Parliament, took over Belliard boulevard and then continued on Rue Froissart towards the main building of the European Commission and the European Council, the end point of the march.
In the sound of drums, violins and trumpets, people of all ages marched holding blue and green flags or signs with all sort of messages. “Stop the apocalypse” was asking one of the signs. “Let’s change the world, not the climate” was the message on one leaflet distributed to the people on the street.
The march was organized by the Climate Coalition who called for participants for the action named “The wave for the climate”. The organizers distributed turquoise leaflets to the participants where they were thanking them for coming and were stating their “appeal for Copenhagen”.
